Wedding Registry Guide
Congratulations on your engagement! Now the real fun begins... At first glance setting up your wedding registries may seem like a 'no-brainer' but when you consider the thousands of items to choose from, and the hundreds of stores that carry them where do you start?
Someone very wise once said, "If you fail to plan you plan to fail" and this really applies in this instance. Here are some questions you can ask yourslef to make your Wedding Gift Registry a success!
Should we register online or In a store?
Going to a store and browsing through the products can be fun. You can pick up the silverware and feel its weight, you can compare threadcounts on the bedding, you can put together a whole place setting to see if your choice of crystal goes with your choice of china. So what about registering online? The most obvious benefit is the convenience. Online, you can sign up anytime of the day, you can be in your pajamas and take as much time as you want. You can open your account and add or revise your items selection anytime. The only drawback might be any friends or family who don't have access to the internet (do they still exist?)
What items should we choose?
When considering items to add to your registry consider these basic questions:
If you're answer to any of the above questions is Yes! than you should add it to your Registry.
How many items should we pick?
You generally want a lot of items for your guests to choose from. And make sure you have a good selection of prices so that friends and family with small budgets or large budgets can choose from any number of items which they know will make you happy.
What if we need expensive items like a car, honeymoon expenses, or even a house?
Cash Registries: These allow you to choose items and split their cost so that it can be spread over multiple friends and family. As an example: If you want to get a $6,000 handcrafted cherrywood bedroom set you could split the total into $1,000 segments.
HoneyFund: This is a popular wedding gift registry that allows people to pay for part of your honeymoon, like a nice dinner or parasailing, or a larger part like your flight or accomadations.
Donations to Charity
What if we don't want gifts or maybe just a few? How about encouraging your friends and family to donate to a good cause in celebration of your wedding instead? There are Charity specific registries available or you use a cash registry and select your favorite non-profts as items to choose from.
The staff at Villa de Amore made our wedding so beautiful and enjoyable. I had the perfect day because of their hard work. They were very accomodating and the Villa is just gorgeous! It was the best wedding I could have hoped for.
My husband and I looked at several venues before deciding on the Villa. I am so glad we did. David, Eileen, and Amy are soo helpful and really made our day special. They were always available to answer my questions while I was planning and selection of vendors they work with are amazing! I couldn't have imagined our day any better! We still have people telling us it was the prettiest wedding they have even been too. I think the Villa and its beauty is why people are saying that!
