The Perfect Flowers for A Clean Modern Wedding

If you are planning a modern style wedding here are some suggestions on floral choices. Flowers are an important part of the style/theme and help create your vision while setting the tone of the day.

When choosing flowers for a modern style wedding, think more focal flowers not as much filler or accent flowers. When choosing flower colors, all white, is a very popular and timeless clean look. You can incorporate bold colors and accent colors as well.

Here are some popular focal flower choices that are available all year round:

Roses, the most classic focal flower! A few of my favorite varieties for this theme are:

  • Playa Blanca Roses – High petal count, rich velvety white, large heads and when “flexed,” are a stand-alone beauty.
  • Tibet – Classic, crisp white, traditional rose, large heads.
  • Black Baccara Rose – Deep rich burgundy tone, high petal count, huge blooms and a classic red rose.
  • Quicksand – A pale neutral rose that acts as a chameleon rose. It can create a soft blush, mauve, grey, or lavender look. Sweet smelling, also known as the Kim Kardashian rose, shown in the very first picture next to the Playa Blanca rose.
  • White Ohara – A garden rose variety with a strong fragrance, creamy center, blush undertones, large head and petal count.

Cala Lillys – A very modern, elegant, focal flower. They look great all by themselves and don’t need accent flowers to shine.

Lilly varieties like Asiatic, White Gazers and Casa Blanca are beautiful large focal blooms.

Hydrangeas are the staple of a classic modern flower.

Babys breath has come full circle and reintroduced itself as a modern flower. It can be used to replace all greenery, alongside focal flowers or stand-alone for a simplistic chic look.

Greenery

There are two common categories of greenery. First you have your sage greens, minty blues, and eucalyptus blends. Sage greens tend to work well with more rustic/vintage styles. Then you have your emerald green category, true hunter greens/glossy leaf. These are a great match for modern style weddings. Emerald greens are a crisp clean accent that mimic true foliage you would naturally see on the flowers.  Some of my favorite varieties are Italian ruscus, Israeli ruscus, lemon leaf, and leather.

Hope this helps with your modern wedding day planning!
